Cashmere Care
All NUAN Cashmere products are made from the highest quality cashmere yarn available, and hand washing is the best way to keep them clean. Here are some tips to help you maintain the beauty of your cashmere for many years to come!
Hand Washing
Hand washing is the best way to clean our NUAN Cashmere. Run lukewarm water in the sink and add a small amount of delicate shampoo or handknit wash, being sure that it is dissolved and completely mixed. Add the cashmere piece and soak for five minutes then gently ‘squish’ to let the suds soak through the fibers.
Rinse in lukewarm water using the same ’squishing’ action (never wring your cashmere) until the water is clear. We don’t use fabric softener. Then roll the garment in a towel and press to remove any excess moisture. Now lay it flat to dry on a drying rack if possible and away from heat and sunlight. Re-shape while still damp, giving particular attention to the side seams and sleeves. When completely dry, press with a damp cloth and cool iron.
Machine Washing
We do not recommend machine-washing your NUAN Cashmere garment as machine temperatures and cycles vary greatly depending on the washing machine.
Dry Cleaning
If you decide to dry clean your cashmere, especially our jackets and larger items, make sure and check that your dry cleaner does not use excessive amounts of chemicals.
Storage
The storage of cashmere is one of the most important points after cleaning. When you are using your cashmere in season, just fold and put away in a drawer. When out of season, please make sure to clean before storing. Store by placing your clean cashmere in a secure garment bag. We recommend the use of lavender and cedar storage balls or blocks to keep moths at bay.
